About Us

The institute of Integrated Rural Health, Development and Training Center (IRHDTC) is a service oriented non-profit private organization established in 1993 by high-level policy makers, medical personnel, program managers and academic leaders engaged in population and human development in Nepal and outside. The scope and magnitude of the population problem in various parts of Nepal where it is most acute, is aggravated by the lack of human and financial resources to address it. There is a need for sustained national leadership in many of the districts that have insufficient professional and institutional capacity to conduct policy analysis, to design, manage and evaluate programs, and to maintain the political will to intervene.

In confronting the multiple problems in Nepal, IRHDTC focuses on human investment that pays the greatest premium. Imported programs may be short lived, but the capacity to build and to innovate, to learn and to teach, to create and to lead, can last a lifetime - and beyond. To strengthen the knowledge base needed to develop new health and development policy and strategies and to nourish the skills to develop broad and effective new programs are enduring gifts. They are the finest investments we can make in social change. IRDHTC engages personnel and organizations in innovative approaches to policy analysis, strategic planning, advocacy, implementation, program management and evaluation, and organizational change.

Integrated Rural Health Development Program and Training Center is dedicated to the human investment and development. Through collaborative research for program development and implementation and institutional development, and an extensive investment in professional and academic training, it seeks to build strong linkages between policy, program and research within Nepal and regions of the developing world. Thus the Institute utilizes its core funds as well as outside support in the service of social change.
