  • June 2, 2010: IRHDTC has started distributing necessary medicines for CBNCP including syringes, gentamycin vials, thermometer and GV to all the health institutions and community health workers (VHW/MCHW and FCHV). IRHDTC is also planning to organize CBNCP Software Installation Orientation program (9-10, June) to DHO staffs and Birth Registration Coordination Meeting with VDC Secretaries in coordination with DDC on 17 June.
  • May 30, 2010: In Community Based Newborn Care Program in Dang, Technical Support Visits and BCC activities have started. Field officer have reported very positive impact of the program in terms of new born care practices and care during illness. In addition, IRHDTC/Nepal is also reviewing training Materials for Community Based Management of Acute Malnutrition for CHD and UNICEF which is in the final stage.
  • May 28, 2010: IRHDTC/Nepal is participating in the follow up program of CBNCP program in Bardiya conducted by Save the Children. The follow up program has been scheduled from 28th May till 10 June, 2010.
  • April 30, 2010: All Health Facility Level and Community Level trainings have been completed in Dang. Mentoined below is the summary of CBNCP training activities till date.
1. District Planning :                  1 batch, 19 Participants (Nov. 20-21, 2009)
2. DDC Orientation :                  1 batch, 21 Participants (Nov.21, 2009)
3. HF Level Training :                5 batches, 117 Participants (Dec 15, 2009- Jan 23, 2010)
4. VHW/MCHW training :          3 batches, 61 Participants (Jan. 29- Feb. 13, 2010)
5. FCHV level training :             39 batches, 804 Participants (Feb. 23- April 16, 2010)
6. VDC level Orientation :         39 batches, 637 Participants (Feb. 23- April 16, 2010)
7. Trad. Healer Orientation :    39 batches, 146 Participants (Feb. 23- April 16, 2010)
8. Mothers Group Orientation : 804 batches, 9352 Participants (Feb. 23- April 16, 2010)
9. DACAW VF Training :             1 batch, 19 Participants (April, 2010)

  • March 30, 2010: 19 Batches of FCHV level training have been completed in Dang till date.


  • March 12, 2010: FCHV level CB-NCP training have started in Dang. Two lots comprising 13 batches of FCHV level trainings have been completed in Dang till date facilitated by experienced community level facilitators of IRHDTC/Nepal. The third lot of FCHV level training is being planned from 11th March.
  • February 9, 2010: VHW/MCHW CBNCP training have started in Dang. The first batch of training is ongoing facilitated by Medical Training Officers of IRHDTC/Nepal. The FCHV level training is being planned from 23rd February.
  • January 24, 2010: All 5 batches of CBNCP Health Facility Level Training Program have been completed in Dang. 
  • November 20-21: District level planning for CB-NCP program was organized by DHO/Dang with support from IRHDTC/Nepal on November 20 and the following day, 1/2 day orientation was organized for DDC officials. The district planning was successfully completed with preparation of detailed schedule for implementation of CB-NCP program.
  • November 13-21: IRHDTC/Nepal arranged field visit for observation of CB-NCP program in Bardiya District (implemented by Save the Children) with support from UNICEF/Nepal. Two staffs of IRHDTC/Nepal participated in the FCHV level training program in Rajapur VDC from 15-21 November conducted by DHO, Bardiya with support from Save the Children. The objectives of the visit were to acquaint the staffs with the CB-NCP program: its contents, methods and strategies before its implementation in DANG and learn about the human resource and materials required for successful and effective conduction of the training activities. The observation visit was very successful with the staffs learning the most out of the program. This has not only helped to learn the techniques and methods of conducting the training but provided opportunity to integrate the learning of CB-IMCI training program and prepare for effective implementation of the program in DANG.

 

  • November 10:  A one day materials orientation program of "Community Based Neonatal Program" was organized by IRHDTC/Nepal with support from UNICEF/Nepal for all 3 partner organizations (IRHDTC, PhD Group, Makalu Health Centre) of UNICEF/Nepal for the implementation CB-NCP program in 3 districts namely Dang, Chitwan and Kavre. The program was very helpful in orientating the project staffs with CB-NCP program and interaction among the staffs of the partner NGOs, UNICEF and CB NCP secreteriate.
